At the Neighborhood Association meeting in February 2023, we had a discussion about changes to the City of Charlotte zoning ordinance that will take effect June 1, 2023. Among these changes is the ability for a duplex or triplex to be built on any lot within Montclaire. The new ordinance also allows a neighborhood, such as Montclaire, to create an Overlay which allows restrictions to be put in place to help preserve the existing look and feel of the neighborhood.
We’ve created a survey to gauge interest in the idea of creating an overlay restriction for Montclaire and what specific types of restrictions the neighborhood might prefer. Note that this is just information gathering, and does not commit you or the neighborhood to anything.
Please click this link to a survey to help us know what your thoughts are in regards to this matter. It’s important for us to build a consensus as we will need 50% of homeowners to sign the Overlay once we’ve drafted it.
We have also started a task force to discuss the creation of an Overlay and engage with the City of Charlotte should we decide to move forward as a neighborhood. If you’d like to volunteer on the task force, please email the association at montclaire@montclaire28210.com.
