The mantra of the Beautification & Gardening Committee (BGC) is simple – “enjoy life … play in the dirt … and laugh a lot.” The committee meets regularly during the year (especially Spring and Fall) to design its plans for the seasons.
- Gala Garden Party They may not replicate Monet’s gardens, but folks ‘round here DO like their gardens. Flowers and veggies and herbs oh my! In June 2009, BGC held its first garden event, celebrating in one of Montclaire’s loveliest gardens. Residents strolled about, sipped “something” cold and munched on sweets and savories. A mingling of neighbors and nature. The BCG is making plans now for 2019 and our 11th Annual Garden Gala.
- Annual Neighborhood Project, Sample Project: Montclaire Elementary Corner Spruce-up The BGC targeted the corner of Emerywood and Farmbrook where picnic tables and shrubbery had been installed years ago. Paint had peeled off, beds had gotten untidy and shrubs and trees needed a haircut. Fall was a perfect time to sand and paint those tables, edge and mulch the beds and neatly trim the crape myrtles and shrubs. The spruce up was a success!
